Business Development Associate at MFS Africa

MFS Africa is a leading pan-African fintech company that operates the largest digital payments hub on the continent. The MFS Africa Hub is connected to over 180 million mobile wallets in Africa, offering unparalleled reach for mobile money operators, banks, money transfer operators, corporates and a growing number of SMEs. We power cross-border, cross-platform payment services for partners across the continent. We enable remittance and other payment services for partners serving the African diaspora globally.

MFS Africa recently acquired a fast-paced and dynamic company based in East Africa, called Beyonic and is in the process of integrating it into the larger company. Beyonic is a fintech startup, founded in Uganda in 2013 and is focused on improving digital financial infrastructure, services, and access for enterprises operating in emerging market economies. It connects enterprises to millions of base-of-the-pyramid consumers on mobile networks and banks in several African countries. We are looking for a Business Development Associate, who will specifically focus on pitching Beyonic’s product offering to prospective clients. The role will report into the Executive Vice President Beyonic.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Support the growth of Beyonic’s client and partner base in Ghana and identify, initiate, maintain and deepen relationships with key clients and partners to achieve sales objectives
  • Close new business with a combined minimum value of US$1000 in monthly net revenue
  • Actively grow, segment, qualify, and document a sales pipeline with not less than 40 leads each month
  • Collaboratively drive and support business development activities as needed and directed
  • Develop and maintain client relationships by conducting on-boarding, training and after-sales support
  • Identify, evaluate and pursue strategic business projects in Ghana and regionally, if applicable
  • Execute other duties as reasonably assigned

Requirements

Qualifications and experience

  • A relevant post high-school qualification
  • At least 5 years of experience in sales with a verifiable track record of successfully meeting and exceeding sales targets
  • Experience managing customer relationships
  • Experience effectively using using CRM tools for communication, management, and reporting
  • Experience working with a disbursed global team
  • SaaS, fintech, technology, finance, banking, or start-up/entrepreneurial experience all significant advantages
  • Pan-African exposure, experience and expertise would be an advantage

Skills and competencies

  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and oral
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proactive approach to problem solving
  • Adaptable, flexible and comfortable working in an environment that is constantly evolving
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • High level of integrity
  • Works well within a team and can also work autonomously where required
